Examining the EU's structural problems through the refugee issue ~A bold attempt to reexamine the nature of international organizations~
Associate Professor Ryuya Daidouji
This paper provides a detailed analysis of the EU's refugee response, which is often seen as a model, and sharply criticizes the limitations of EU constitutionalism. Associate Professor Daidouji's paper, which boldly raised the issue, was selected for the EU Research Encouragement Award given by the Japan Association for EU Studies. Looking at EU immigration control, there is a structural situation in which human rights violations such as "how to prevent people from entering the country" and "how to prevent people from applying for refugee status" are left unattended. Taking these issues into account, we aim to reweave the EU's image and establish a new EU image in Japan.
